The New Year’s resolutions are something that’s been heard for a long time and, to be honest, I’ve always thought it was stupid.
How many people forget about them a week after they’ve settled them?
For that reason it’s something I’ve never done. This year, however, I sat down and wrote a list of things I wanted to get done or achieved in the coming year; it may be the age that is changing me.
I’m not going to tell you all of them because I appreciate my private life, but I am going to write a few here and so that later I can tell you how I am doing.
Post weekly on the blog
I must admit that in 2018 I was not the blogger of the year. I haven’t made a calendar, I haven’t published regularly and, sometimes, I’ve spent long periods without writing anything on the blog.
In 2019 I want to change this. My goal is to publish between one and three posts every week.
Go back to my YouTube channel
If I had the blog a little abandoned, the channel must be dying.
This year I want to make more videos. I’m not YouTuber by any means (I don’t think I’d like to be one) but it seems like an ideal way to save visual memories and I want to continue with it.
This past year I have travelled a lot but if it weren’t for my brief visit to Andorra I wouldn’t have left the country.
In 2019 I would like to continue traveling and be able to leave Spain at least once. Let’s see how I manage my savings to be able to fulfil this objective.
Find a job that I really like
At the moment I am working, I am aware that not many people can say that and, besides, I am working on something that is related to what I have studied. I feel very grateful for that.
However, many of you have heard me say that I do not want to work, that I want to dedicate myself to write and paint, to create so to say.
This year I want to find a job that I really like and that allows me to combine it with my passions.
Write a novel and at least three short stories (or the beginning of a second novel)
The first part is more of an obligation. My Master’s Thesis Work consists of writing a novel and if I don’t do it I won’t successfully pass the master. So I have something less than 6 months for it. Luckily, I’ve already started with it.
On the other hand, once June passes and the Thesis is finished, the obligation to write will ceases to exist. I want to continue doing it and that’s the reason of this goal. I don’t know whether I’ll be writing short stories or different novel, but I must continue writing.
Participate in literary contests
Last year I already broke the fear barrier that was preventing me from doing this. In 2019 I want to tear down the foundations of that barrier and continue with the contests.
My idea is to participate in two more contests at least.
Start the process of publishing a book
I have several works finished keeping saved in the hard disk, because this is the last barrier of fear that I have left to overcome.
This year I want to start with the publication procedures of one of them. I do not care that nothing comes out in the end, at least I want to be able to say that I have tried.
Take back the painting
Painting is another of my hobbies, possibly the oldest I have, but in 2018 I have had it totally abandoned.
I haven’t known how to make time to paint and this can’t continue like this.
In 2019 I want to finish 6 paintings (one every two months, it’s not so bad)
Start making sports on a regular basis
I have not moved in the least for months. From the office chair to the home chair to write. Luckily I have a very active metabolism and I have not gained an ounce, but my body asks for movement.
This year I want to play sports again. I know that during the first six months it will be difficult for me because of the Thesis novel, but I still have to try. In the second half of the year I have no excuse!
I could write a thousand more things that I would like to achieve, but some are private and others surreal. Learning to play the piano or winning the lottery has no place here after all.
And you? Have you made a list of New Year’s resolutions for 2019?
