It seems incredible that, with the amount of time I have right now, I have not managed to take a moment to tell you about the trip to Andorra so far!
Going to Andorra has become a kind of family tradition; we go once a year or, at most, every two years. 2019 was not going to be different and we organized the trip for August.
This year we stayed at the Niu Nit hotel, a beautiful place located in a valley and literally next to a river. The staff were very friendly and it had a spa, but one of the things I liked the most was the views (and the sound of the river at night).
Unlike last year, on this trip we had time to go hiking and not just shopping…
The first day we were in the Sorteny Valley Natural Park, more specifically the peak and lake of Estanyó. It was a crazy road since the peak is 2,915m high.
It is a beautiful route that runs first along the river, then inside the forest and, finally, in the huge valley.
The next day we went up to see the lakes of Tristaina. This route was shorter as we climbed part of the road by cable car, but the path we had to walk was quite complicated.
The lakes are located at a high altitude between France and Andorra and I must admit that it was very cold up there. The views were worth it though.
In the city
The remaining day we spent in the city of Andorra, in the morning to soak in Caldea and in the afternoon shopping, walking through the main streets.
I must highlight the delicious pizzas of the Mama Maria Restaurant, if you go to Andorra you have to book a meal there.
Andorra is one of the most beautiful places I have visited in my life; it is a city lost high in the Pyrenees where the urban is perfectly integrated with nature. It is a highly recommended visit and I will be back soon.
I just have left to tell you that I made a video of the trip for IGTV and that you can see it here.
