I had been wanting to read something by Sherlock Holmes again for a while, since after reading The Hound of the Baskervilles I had been wanting more. I had three other stories but after the recommendation of a friend I decided to start with A Study in Scarlet.
Let me tell you that it was the best possible decision, it is the story in which Sherlock and Watson meet each other.
Watson has returned to London from the Vietnam War and shares a flat on Baker Street with a curious man called Sherlock Holmes.
Together they respond to Scotland Yard’s call for help to solve a curious murder in which the corpse shows no sign of violence, but is surrounded by confusing clues.
The two Scotland Yard detectives and Sherlock himself follow different courses of investigation and in the end it is our protagonist who reveals the mystery.
This novel has two parts, and it wasn’t until I was five chapters into the second one that I realized that they were actually the same case. It is a brilliant, interesting and very easy to read story in which we are shown that, having the same information that Sherlock has, he discovers it and we don’t.
I really liked knowing how these two curious characters get to know each other and, ultimately, to live and work together. Anyway, my favorite is still The Hound of the Baskervilles.
I also leave here the video review of the book, as always, it is a little more extensive and in-depth. Subscribe to my channel to see the videos before.
